Toyota Highlander Overview

The Toyota Highlander has been in production since 2000 and available to consumers since the 2001 model year. It is a mid-sized crossover SUV that shares a platform with the Toyota Camry and offers consumers a less rugged option in the mid-sized SUV class than its counterpart, the 4Runner. It is now in its third generation (2014-present). The Toyota Highlander was the top-selling sport utility vehicle in the company’s lineup until the RAV4 took that honor in 2006. It was one of the first crossover mid-sized SUVs in the United States, and has a reputation for beating out other SUVs in terms of handling, cabin noise and entry/egress convenience. Larger than its looks belie, it can seat up to seven people and has a variety of options. Like other Toyota vehicles, even the base level includes an impressive number of features.
