Toyota Avalon Overview

The Toyota Avalon has been in production since 1994 and made its debut in the United States in the 1995 model year. It is a full-size sedan that took over the slot in the Toyota lineup vacated by the Toyota Cressida, which was discontinued in 1992. It’s been the top full-size vehicle for Toyota since it hit the United States market and has built and maintained a strong reputation as a reliable vehicle, much like the rest of the Toyota lineup. One of the biggest improvements over the years for the Toyota Avalon has been in the style department, where it has gone from boring and lackluster to reasonably stylish to what could now be described as an upscale design. The Avalon is now in its fourth generation, which started with the 2013 model year. This version shares at least part of the platform of the Lexus ES, and the styling shows hints of luxury as well. There is also a hybrid version of the vehicle available. The competition of the Toyota Avalon includes the Ford Taurus, Buick LaCrosse, Chrysler 300 and Nissan Maxima.

I feel comfortable and surrounded by everything I need. The car responds so well, especially turning. Love that it has so much technology that helps me be a better driver like helping with passing,parking, staying in my lane and staying at the right speed. Also, the car will brake if something/someone comes in front of my car. The lights are automatic. Has a charing platform for the cell phone. Buying our Toyota Avalon was a pleasure as they first showed us a helpful flim then we met with a technology person to go over the basics of all our new technology. We did have to have a follow-up technology appointment since so much of it was new to us and we are senior citizens.

We do NOT care for the navigation system as it is not user friendly. Also, we seem to be having trouble with the gate opener in the mirror system, and once we had to reprogram the garage door opener as well, as it lost the programming for no apparent reason. Just recently, while riding in the rear seat, I was unable to use the plug in for my phone, as they are very low and inconvenient.

The Avalon Limited has wonderful features not available in the other models. We really like the memory driver seat, the auto headlight dimmer, and the auto rain sensors! DO NOT like the way dash is so sensitive. When my husband reaches over to change touch something, it makes something else change. Not quite sure how to explain it. Also, have not been able to use the navigation system / GPS very well either.
