Subaru initially introduced the Forester as a compact crossover wagon for the 1997 model year. The vehicle is credited for being one of the first crossover SUVs in the automotive market. The Forester is currently in its fifth generation, which started with the 2019 model year. Because it is a compact crossover, the Subaru Forester has several key competitors. Competitors include the Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, GMC Terrain and Toyota RAV4.

What's New on the 2018 Subaru Forester

For 2018, the Subaru Forester makes some tweaks and additions to its various trims. Touring level trims receive Subaru’s EyeSight monitoring system as standard, which includes automatic high beam assist and reverse braking. The Forester also adds the Black Edition, which features black wheels, black exterior trim, and a black cloth interior.
