More About the 2020 Ford Explorer

Ford Explorer Overview

The Ford Explorer is a name synonymous with SUVs. First introduced when sport utilities were just catching on, the Explorer won over drivers with its rugged looks and raised ride height. Thirty years later, the Explorer has remained relevant thanks to midsize proportions, compliant ride, and an assortment of available features. The six-generation of the Explorer launched with the 2020 model year and continues to evolve.

pros
Love all the features and electronics they pack in for the money (adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, backup warning systems, carplay, massaging seats, etc). The 2.7l turbo engine allows it to accelerate quite quickly in a straight line.
cons
It handles like it is bigger than it is. Lots of body roll, even in sport mode. For an ST model, I had higher expectations in this area. Had the smaller Edge in the past which performed far better (granted it is smaller).

pros
I like the seating and roominess of the front cabin area. There are many seat and cabin comfort adjustments. As a 6ft 5 inch, 250 pound person, having adequate leg and shoulder room is very important to me.
cons
I wish the Explorer had additional storage space for a trash receptacle, loose change and an additional front cabin phone caddy for the passengers use.

pros
Beautiful design, great ride, B&O sound system is amazing, acceptable highway mileage.
cons
Seats are uncomfortable for long-distance travel, not enough seat positions available for a vehicle pushing $60k, no way to permanently override the auto-off engine feature, Sync 3 infotainment system a bit too low slow and lags, fake wood paneling could be better or just replaced with brushed aluminum or something nicer looking - it looks like cheap.
