Owner Review
The 2017 A3 is beautiful but has poor acceleration at lower gears and safety features that prevent skilled drivers from safely controlling the vehicle. Heavy shifting at low gears combined with the start-stop system makes waiting in traffic a nightmare and frankly embarrassing. An Audi should not shudder when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. I specifically moved to Audi from another brand notorious for heavy, car-shaking shifting, and have not been impressed with the turbocharged I4. From highway speeds (accelerating from 50-60mph), the turbocharger is fantastic. However at lower speeds, the wind-up delay and poor flywheel engagement / disengagement shakes the car like a poorly designed Honda. The motor turning on and off also tends to shake the car depending on angle and slope of the road where I am sitting, direction of the wheels when I'm stopped, and humidity / air-pressure / altitude that the engine and computer is now resetting at. This jerky acceleration performance does not happen with Audi's V6 and supercharged models as they have much better torque at lower RPMs and obviously no wind-up delay. Additionally the "Pre-sense" braking that takes over the car's brakes when I'm approaching a stationary object is infuriating and has almost caused several accidents by taking away my control of the vehicle, even for a split second, at crucial times. The Pre-sense emergency braking conveniently disengages while the car is still accelerating towards the car in front of me, however I now have lost feeling in the brake pedal and am under the impression that it would not disengage until bringing the car to a complete stop. I think this system should be illegal and outlawed. It's an example of ridiculous, over-designed, over-safety measured intended for people who can't drive or frankly should not be allowed to drive a car because they are not able to control it in high acceleration and deceleration conditions. Even with these pitfalls I enjoy the car and plan to stay with the Audi brand. It is beautifully designed. My next Audi will be an I5, V6, or V8 and supercharged. Also, the Drive Select system seems to smooth acceleration at lower speeds when set at "comfort". Any form of additional storage space would be useful. I understand the minimal interior German aesthetic thing. The car shaking and spurting at low speeds in start-stop traffic is embarrassing. I would never expect this from (any) model Audi. There are literally hundreds of forums of Audi owners with shifting complaints and issues. A German designed and manufactured engine should not preform this poorly. The wiper blades not lifting off the windshield due to the hood cut-off also seems like an over-design. They really can't move 1-5/8" higher? Overall a gorgeous car and I am still happy to be driving an Audi as opposed to a Benz or even Maserati.

It was excellent. Can't wait for ability to drive longer on a bigger battery.

Work with Apple to fix CarPlay, please! It is currently a source of great frustration and missed promise.
