Overview

The 2025 Genesis GV60 is basically a $60,000 luxury hatchback, which may not appeal to budget-conscious buyers. It really is luxurious, though, with great tech, lovely materials, and a refined driving experience. The Genesis GV60 is a 5-seater vehicle that comes in 3 trim levels. The most popular style is the Standard RWD, which starts at $53,845 and comes with an Electric engine and Rear Wheel Drive. This GV60 is estimated to deliver 125 MPGe in the city and 99 MPGe on the highway.

Overall Assessment

The 2025 Genesis GV60 is a different sort of electric vehicle in more ways than one. Its body style, for starters, makes it look like a hatchback from afar — hardly the most appealing vehicle type for American luxury buyers. Get closer, though, and you’ll realize its dimensions are actually similar to a midsize SUV.

Get even closer and the doors will unlock just by staring at a camera in the B pillar. You can turn the car on with your fingerprint, too, which not only activates the electric motor(s) but the rotating glowing orb that’s used to shift the car into gear. Once comfortably seated in the sumptuously adjustable driver's seat, you’ll notice a cabin that most definitely doesn’t belong to a humble hatchback. It’s stylish, packed with bold screens, and lined in rich materials. The cabins of similarly priced luxury EVs are on the entry-level ends of their respective brands with plenty of iffy plastics about. There’s nothing entry level in the look or feel of the GV60.

Considering the look and the high-lux interior, you’re probably not expecting acceleration that knocks your socks off, but that’s just what can happen in the GV60 Performance that can hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Pressing the little yellow button on the steering wheel feels like someone just gave the accelerator pedal four shots of espresso. Lesser versions can’t match that performance (and get better range as a result), but apart from the rear-motor Standard version, performance shouldn’t disappoint. Range may, however, as there are certainly competitors that can go farther, most notably the similarly priced Cadillac Lyriq.

Finally, the GV60 is a bit of an oddball because of its price. It costs as much or more than the top trim levels of mainstream-brand EVs like the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Ford Mustang Mach-E, plus its mechanically related siblings, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. If you don’t care so much about the GV60’s luxurious trappings and extra-loaded feature content, one of those could be a better bet. At the same time, luxury brand competitors apart from the Lyriq deliver less space and luxury for the money (such as the Audi Q4 e-tron and Mercedes EQB), or cost substantially more (such as the Mercedes EQE SUV or Porsche Macan Electric.

Vehicles this different don’t tend to be the biggest sellers, but they can also be incredibly memorable and fun to experience on a daily basis. That’s definitely the case with the 2025 Genesis GV60.

Overview

The 2026 Genesis GV70 delivers good power, a smooth ride, and commendable utility — all sought-after qualities in a high-end SUV. With its updated interior and other improvements for the new model year, the GV70 is an excellent choice in the premium compact crossover market. The Genesis GV70 is a 5-seater vehicle that comes in 6 trim levels. The most popular style is the 3.5T Sport Prestige, which starts at $72,590 and comes with a 3.5L V6 Turbo engine and All Wheel Drive. This GV70 is estimated to deliver 18 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.

Overall Assessment

It was only a few years ago that Genesis introduced the five-passenger GV70 to its SUV lineup, and in that short time, the premium crossover has become the brand’s best-selling model. The Genesis has a standout design, but it still faces stiff competition from established models like the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Audi Q5. The GV70 is an impressive entry in the class, with an extensive standard feature list, powerful engine options, a smooth ride, and significant value.

A big part of the GV70’s appeal is its stylish appearance, which is enhanced for the 2026 model year. Adopting many styling cues from the updated Genesis GV80, the 2026 GV70 gets a large grille with a dual-weave mesh flanked by new multi-lens array (MLA) LED headlights.

Inside, the roomy cabin is replete with high-end materials, giving it an overall premium look that easily matches that of more expensive rivals. Adding a high-tech vibe is the new 27-inch OLED display screen that incorporates the digital gauge cluster and updated infotainment touchscreen.

Not just a pretty face, the GV70 is quite enjoyable to drive, with a smooth, comfortable ride that delivers confidence, even on rough or uneven road surfaces. There’s plenty of power on tap from the standard turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, and customers looking for a sportier experience can upgrade to the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. Genesis also offers the Electrified GV70, which is covered in a separate review.

Look for the 2026 Genesis GV70 to arrive in showrooms in the spring of 2025.

Overview

The Genesis G80 hasn’t been around as long as some of its German rivals. Still, it delivers a proper luxury sedan experience with stand-out styling, advanced technology, strong performance, and a roomy cabin replete with premium materials, all for a reasonable price. The Genesis G80 is a 5-seater vehicle that comes in 5 trim levels. The most popular style is the 3.5T Sport Prestige, which starts at $78,495 and comes with a 3.5L V6 Turbo engine and All Wheel Drive. This G80 is estimated to deliver 16 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.

Overall Assessment

One of the newest mainstream automotive brands in the U.S., Genesis brings a unique perspective as the only luxury car maker based in Korea. While it doesn’t have the cachet or history of better-known brands like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Volvo, it offers an impressive lineup of SUVs and sedans, including the refreshed 2025 G80 midsize luxury sedan.

The G80 slots logically between the smaller G70 and flagship G90 sedans. It shares much of its underpinnings with the recently revised GV80 SUV. The all-electric Genesis Electrified G80 EV is reviewed separately and has not yet received the same updates as the gas-powered version.

With distinctive styling and a cabin replete with high-quality materials, the G80 competes directly with popular European models that include the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6. Like other models from its parent company, Hyundai, the G80 is an excellent value, boasting prices lower than the competition while delivering an extensive standard feature list. To sweeten the deal, all Genesis models come with a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty, beating those competitors by a large margin.

The G80 is an even stronger offering with significant updates for the 2025 model year. Exterior styling improvements are subtle, with a revised version of the familiar grille and advanced LED headlights in the brand’s signature two-line motif.

However, the G80’s interior gets a more noticeable makeover with an all-new 27-inch touchscreen that elegantly incorporates driver and infotainment displays. The G80 is the first Genesis with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. High-quality materials are found throughout the cabin, and the G80 has the latest advanced driver-assist features.

With two potent powertrains, full-time all-wheel drive, and available rear-wheel steering, the G80 delivers impressive performance, befitting this luxury sedan while still carrying its passengers in comfort. Handling and driveability are not quite the level of a BMW or Audi, but the 2025 Genesis G80 is an excellent option for buyers with a lower budget or who want to stand out.
